Marketing and Communications

Web and Digital

The university's website is one of the most widely searched hubs for information about USC. Keeping site content current, easily navigable and accessible to all users is an essential part of our marketing and communications strategy.

Web Content Management System

The University of South Carolina coordinates academic and administrative units sites through a single content management system (CMS).

Through the CMS, the Division of Marketing creates web communications that support the university’s overall branding, marketing and communications objectives while providing USC colleges, schools, departments and administrative units direct control to add, edit and delete content on their sites.

According to university policy, all academic and administrative units and sub-units must use the university’s content management system (CMS), approved page designs and modular content elements to plan and execute their web presence. All unit sites in the CMS are required to have a primary site manager, but the CMS offers additional user levels with varying publishing rights and access under the site manager. All users must be approved and complete CMS training before site access is granted.

Content Management

The Division of Marketing manages marketing content across university-level pages and provides guidance to unit communicators and site managers on creating accessible, effective content on their sites. The team collaborates with the university’s CMS administrator within the Division of Information Technology and the CMS provider to design and implement templates, tools and components that strengthen and maintain the university brand across the sc.edu domain.
