Make an Appointment with Your Academic Advisor

Before registering for classes each semester, you must meet with your assigned academic advisor in the College of Nursing.

About Nursing Advising

Our advisors are here to support BSN students throughout both stages of our program. Students will meet one-on-one with their Pre-Nursing advisor on our main USC-Columbia campus each semester. In Upper Division, students have a dedicated advisor at our Clinical Education Building in West Columbia where they will meet for group advising each semester. However, Upper Division students are always welcome to schedule one-on-one meetings with their advisor. Our advisors are a great resource for students, and we encourage you to reach out or schedule an appointment if needed.

  1. Students should schedule an appointment with their primary advisor via EAB Navigate
  2. First-year students must meet with an advisor in-person. Continuing students may meet with an advisor virtually if that is more convenient with their course schedule. Upper Division students may meet online or in-person if a 1:1 appointment is needed (SCHC, ROTC, NCAA students). Otherwise, Upper Division students are not required to schedule their own appointment and will attend the assigned group advising session each semester.
  3. Note: if a student is 10 or more minutes late for their appointment, they will need to reschedule. Appointments fill quickly, so please do your best to attend your originally scheduled appointment.
  1. Review your DegreeWorks audit & make note of any questions. Please enter these questions in the comments section when you book your advising appointment.
  2. Have a list of 4-5 courses that you need/want to take the following semester. Be prepared to discuss these with your advisor.
  3. Review your financial aid/scholarship package to determine if you need a certain number of credit hours each semester to maintain your scholarship.
  4. Look up your current grades in Progression Courses via Blackboard. Be prepared to discuss this with your advisor during your appointment. We will help you calculate your most recent Progression GPA during your appointment.
  5. For in-person appointments, please arrive early for your appointment if possible.
    • Bring your laptop with you to your appointment.
  6. For online appointments, please follow the instructions provided to you by your advisor on how to log into Microsoft Teams and access your appointment.
    • Please log into your appointment on a laptop.
