The clinic offers short-term, limited-scope assistance in areas commonly affecting South Carolinians, including consumer law, debt collection, public benefits, family law, probate and estate administration, estate planning, and other general civil matters. The clinic does not address criminal matters. Many clinic clients are navigating the legal system alone and may be uncertain about their rights, options, or next steps. The clinic’s purpose is not extended representation, but rather to help clients understand their legal situation, receive targeted advice, prepare basic documents when appropriate, advocate for themselves, and obtain referrals or resources for continued assistance.
