While earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Beaufort, Kimberly was awarded the History Program Award in 2011 for her capstone project. In 2024, Kimberly earned her Master’s degree in History from a joint program between the College of Charleston and The Citadel. In this program, she was awarded the Outstanding Student award for the History department. 

In her graduate studies, Kimberly has focused on Women’s reproductive History, as well as race and medicine in the nineteenth-century South. In particular, Kimberly’s graduate research has been focused on a 1891 case of alleged infanticide. Kimberly’s goal in her PhD program is to continue to focus on reproductive freedoms and how our legal systems affect those freedoms.
