Departmental Awards

These awards support summer research and fieldwork pursued toward a master's degree to complete pilot research in order to secure external funding for doctoral research. 
This award is for students presenting sole- or first-authored conference papers or posters. Priority is given to doctoral students. Funds vary between $150 and $250 per year, depending on departmental resources.

 

Non-Departmental Awards

This fellowship provides support for doctoral students. The recipient receives $35,000 funding plus a $2,000 stipend for travel for their dissertation research. Find out more!
This award recognizes exceptional graduate students who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, and make considerable contributions to research and scholarly activities in their field. This award is not monetary. Find out more!
These fellowships and awards include the Presidential Fellowship ($40,000), Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program ($24,000), Dean's Award for Excellence in Leadership ($1,000), Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation awards ($250), and Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award ($1,000). Find out more!

This award provides support for doctoral research. The funds of up to $5,000 per recipient go towards salary, supplies, travel and/or other costs essential to completing and promoting student projects. Find out more!
These fellowships are for graduate students who exhibit excellence in study, research and scholarship. All students are eligible for the C.C. Royal ($2,500), George M. Reeves ($750), and Dera D. Parkinson ($750) fellowships. The Rhude M. Patterson fellowship ($5,000) is reserved for female students. Find out more! 
These fellowships support graduate students engaged in international research and study. They include the Ceny Walker Graduate Travel Grant ($2,500), Donald J.
