The Dawn Staley Leadership Academy is designed for HRSM students who are ready to lead with purpose, discipline, confidence, and service. Inspired by Coach Dawn Staley’s example of excellence, resilience, teamwork, and community impact, the Academy helps students strengthen their leadership voice while learning what it means to show up for others, lead with integrity, and make a lasting difference within HRSM and beyond.
Seeking motivated HRSM majors who are eager to grow as leaders, serve their community, and represent the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management with pride. Students selected for the Academy will have opportunities to engage with industry partners, alumni, faculty, staff, and current and prospective students while continuing to develop their leadership potential in professional and community-centered settings.
Please note: Completion of HRSM 111: Foundations of Uncommon Leadership is a required
prerequisite to apply for the Dawn Staley Leadership Academy as it is the first step
in the application. However, completing the course does not guarantee acceptance into
the Academy or automatically enroll you into the Academy. Students must complete the
full application to be considered in the selection process.
Application Process
February: Applications Open
Students who have completed HRSM 111: Foundations of Uncommon Leadership will receive
an invitation to apply. Submit your application during this period.
March: Selection Process
Selected applicants will be invited to participate in in-person presentations.
Mid-April: Academy Cohort Announced
Approximately 30 students will be selected to join the Dawn Staley Leadership Academy.
Upon being selected, Academy members will be asked to make a multiyear commitment. Academy members are expected to fulfill participation expectations, meeting and training requirements, and course requirements as outlined on the Dawn Staley Leadership Academy Game Plan.
